Masai Mara Game Reserve – Best Masai Mara Safari Kenya Destination

The world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve is a huge expanse of tawny, sunburnt grasslands pocked with acacia trees and river woodlands, and heaving with animals great and small. Impressive at any time of year, it’s at its best between July and October when a million migrating wildebeest and tens of thousands of topis, zebras and other animals pour into the reserve from Tanzania in search of fresh grass. It is, arguably, the most spectacular wildlife show on the planet and the one thing that no visitor to Kenya should consider missing. The Masai Mara safari Kenya adventure tours also form a great way to stay in the park and enjoy the abundance in nature.

Reliable rains and plentiful vegetation underpin this extraordinary ecosystem and the millions of herbivores it supports. Wildebeest, zebras, impalas, elands, reedbucks, waterbucks, black rhinos, elephants, Masai giraffes and several species of gazelle all call the Mara home. Predators here include cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals, bat-eared foxes, caracals and the highest lion density in the world.

Day 1:  Nairobi – Maasai Mara safari Kenya

Our Driver will pick you from your hotel at 8:30am for the drive to the 2 days Maasai mara 1 night safari. Drive through kikuyu highlands and into the Great Rift Valley. Make a scheduled stop over at the eastern escarpment of the Great African rift valley.

Enjoy the great view of the African rift valley floor dotted with dormant volcanic mountain Suswa and mt Longonot. Further on you can see the vapor plumes of Hellsgate national park. One of the most volcanic national parks in Kenya littered with hot springs, geysers and hot water fissures.

Drift through the floor of the rift valley and arrive at the Loita mara plains. You have entered the land of millions of wildlife. Masai mara is rich in abundance of wildlife with the plains teaming with over 3 millions animals. This is why the 2 days Masai mara Kenya safari  is one of the most popular short big five tours from Nairobi-the wildlife abundance.

The mara is home to the highest concentration of plains game which in turn supports the highest concentration of big cat predators than anywhere in Africa.

The vast open spaces provides for a natural theatre to watch wilderness drama unfolding right in front of your eyes. The great wildebeest migration happens between July and October of every year. Over 1.5million wildebeests, zebra and gazelles move more than 3,000km in search of pasture in one of the most dramatic wild events in Africa.

You will arrive in your tented camp or lodge and check in at 12:45pm. Have a sumptuous buffet lunch at 1:00pm and relax for the early afternoon. This time is too hot for a game drive as most animals will be hiding under shade and difficult to spot.

Your first game drive of the day starts at 4:00pm until dusk. This is when you will be able to see the lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, buffalos and the many other animals.

Enjoy your game drive watching the big five animals in this 2 days 1 night Masai mara safari game drive until dusk.

Day 2: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Wake up early to some hot coffee and bitings and head out for your early morning pre-breakfast game drive at 6:00am. The morning game drives promise more dramatic encounters as the cats tend to hunt early. It’s the best time to stumble on a cheetah chase or a leopard hunt or even a lion kill.

The cats also tend to come out onto the game drive tracks to keep off from the wet grass. It’s not surprising to see a leopard walking alongside your game drive vehicle for an entire 300m as it scouts the plains for easy game.

Enjoy this game drive and look out for the elusive wildlife that you may have missed in your previous day’s game drive.

Return to the camp at 8:30am and enjoy a warm breakfast for an hour before departing from the Masai mara for Nairobi at 9:30am. This marks the last day of your 2 days one night Maasai mara safari kenya

Drive back to Nairobi and drop off in your Nairobi hotel at late afternoon.

Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya- Africa. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife tends to be most concentrated on the reserve’s western escarpment. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino). Its the best destination for a 2 days 1 night Nairobi safaris
